HRR in Hollywood, 2009Part Cherokee Indian, Scotch-Irish, and Italian with a smattering of other heritages, H grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia and is based in Los Angeles. She loves film, television, words, language, color, art, music, and eating imported gourmet dark chocolate. H. Raven Rose is her pen name and her company is Word Flow LLC. Her combined creative and intellectual loves, training and education, are Writing, Art, Self-Development (Mastery University, Creative Journal Expressive Arts, CTI Coach training & Franklin Covey Personal Coach training and certification), Transpersonal Psychology, and Spirituality. She is a Screenwriter, Writer, Coach and Speaker.

H writes or edits feature film scripts, screenplay coverage and analysis, stage plays, screenplay treatments, film script synopses and outlines, television and web series content, fiction and non-fiction books including memoir and books for children, Ebooks, pitching documents and leave behinds including query letters, one-sheets, synopsis, treatments, book proposals or TV series pitch documents, author bios and press packets as well as PR, web copy, corporate video scripts, articles for newsletters, Ezines, corporate manuals and more. She profiled notable personalities for San Diego, CA newspapers and magazine. She is experience in editing other writer’s fiction and non-fiction material or ghost-writing for others.

She has worked in film production as a production coordinator, script supervisor, producer or production assistant. She is a self-starter experienced in coordinating for, assisting and working with producers, executive producers, directors and celebrities (music artists such as Ne Yo and Yuridia). She can multi-task and focus on details while still seeing the big picture. Creative and flexible, H is able to troubleshoot, anticipate and respond to issues and changes, creative or technical, as needed. Core skills include her exceptional organizational and follow through abilities.

She received her Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Screenwriting from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA, and is a graduate of The University of Melbourne, Filmmaking Summer School, Australia where she co-wrote, co-directed, co-produced and co-edited the short romantic comedy “Speed Dating: In 60 Seconds or Less.” That film short was produced on DVD, with limited release, and screened in Australia. She studied documentary filmmaking at Melbourne University and Duke University’s Center for Documentary Studies. Select writing studies include: Private Screenwriting 2-Day Master Class with Jeff Kitchen, Documentary Filmmaking at Duke University Center for Documentary Studies, Children’s Book Writing with Nora Cohen (former Harcourt Brace editor), Screenwriting private Master Class 2-Day Retreat with Dr. Richard Krevolin, Advanced Screenwriting with Carol Roper, Screenwriting & Grant writing at UCSD extension and Literary Writing with Sol Stein.

Formerly H penned a monthly column, Notable La Jollans, for the La Jolla Outlook. For that column she was privileged to interview, photograph and write about several fascinating La Jollans, including Françoise Gilot, an artist who, in 1990, received the Knight in the Legion of Honor for her career as artist, writer and feminist. Gilot was the lover of Pablo Picasso, and the mother of his two children, Claude and Paloma. H also interviewed flutist Valery Ugorski and former California Scientist of the year Dr. Ron Evans. Her play “Dark Eros” was produced as staged readings in Los Angeles, one of which starred Jessica Biel.

She has been Creative Screenwriting Expo Faculty and taught there each Fall through 2006 (she is on a teaching hiatus to focus on her own career). In 2006 and 2004, H was delighted to be named a Star Speaker of Creative Screenwriting Expo by Creative Screenwriting Magazine. She has taught workshops or been an invited speaker in many other venues including Rollins College, Winter Park, FL, the UCF Noontime Knowledge Series, and Pace Center for Girls in Orlando, FL. Part of her work includes creating Word FLOW workshops, books and products.

H has written, ghostwritten, book doctored, edited or collaborated on multiple works of fiction and nonfiction. She was interviewed for Xtreme Entrepreneurs project on CNN business radio Houston and by Houston KHOU 11 News Shern-Min Chow in her role as writer/producer for the win-win reality show Xtreme Entrepreneurs, Houston, Texas, June 1, 2005 and for the H Report Fox-26 News video about interviewing experts and candidates for Xtreme Entrepreneur’s, Houston, Texas, May 2005. She was also quoted in an article for H Texas. Previously a mixed media artist, who dabbled in printmaking, watercolor and other media, her visual art was displayed a Pacific Beach, CA gallery.
